The Department of Labor announced that its procurement practices have earned the department an A+ score — for the sixth consecutive year — on the Fiscal Year 2022 Small Business Procurement Scorecard.

Compiled by the Small Business Administration, the scorecard measures the contracting opportunities federal agencies make available to small, small disadvantaged, women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses and those in Historically Underutilized Business Zones or “HUBZones.”

The department is one of 10 agencies to achieve an outstanding grade of A+ on the FY2022 scorecard. Of the 24 federal agencies rated, the department is the only agency that achieved all of its small business goals at the prime and subcontracting level.

In FY2022, the department’s accomplishments included the following:

  • Achieved one of the highest totals awarded to small businesses at the prime contracting level by awarding more than $940 million in prime contracts and $131 million in subcontracts to small businesses.
  • Awarded $200 million to women-owned small businesses.
  • Increased awards to service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses by 11.9 percent.
  • Processed $273 million to HUBZone communities, a 51.6 percent increase over FY2021.
  • Awarded two-thirds of its subcontracts to small businesses.
  • Increased subcontract awards by 5 percent.
