SFPUC Construction Contractors' Breakfast
Over 250 SFPUC pre-qualified prime
contractors, SF Human Rights Commission’s
Certified Local Business Enterprises (LBE),
and other interested contractors attended the 4th
Annual Construction Contractors’ Breakfast on
June 9, 2009.
The purpose of the breakfast was
to provide the opportunity for pre-qualified
primes and certified LBEs to meet and to
partner in anticipation of major construction
contracting opportunities on the SFPUC’s $4.4
billion Water System Improvement Program
(WSIP). WSIP provides significant opportunities for construction contractors and professional services firms of all sizes.
The WSIP includes renovation, replace-
ment, and seismic upgrades of the system’s
from Tuolumne County to San Francisco.
The WSIP is well into design and embark-
ing on construction, with construction contracts
totaling approximately $2.3 billion – ranging
from $2 million to more than $300 million
each – between now and 2014. The SFPUC is
dedicated to ensuring that small, local busi-
nesses along with larger firms are positioned to
take advantage of the many project opportuni-
ties available.
